July happenings

In my last post I told you I was teaching at Bethany Bible school. Here is a picture of my class doing their work.

This past weekend my sisters and I went to North Carolina to visit Kelvin Good’s family. It was interesting seeing their new place and getting to see some of North Carolina. We had a very enjoyable time. We spent part of Friday in South Boston, Virginia. Then in the evening we went to Cedarock park for a picnic. On Saturday we went to Burlington, NC, and went shopping at the Alamance Crossing shopping center where we enjoyed a candle store, Bath and Body Works, Hobby Lobby, Coldstone Creamery, and Barnes and Noble. We then went to a Krispy Kreme place where you could see the donuts being made and, of course, we ate some donuts! We enjoyed a relaxing evening at home Saturday, playing ping-pong and reading books. Sunday we enjoyed worshipping with the Caswell congregation. After a delicious lunch at church we girls headed to Kelvin’s, took some pictures, changed our clothes, and headed home. It was a very fun weekend!

We girls.

Catch-up Time

Well, my family keeps reminding me that my blog is quite behind. Not only is my blog behind, but I am way behind on reading the blogs of my cousins. Sad smile But, I have been having a great summer nonetheless and really don’t feel bad about not spending time on the computer. Winking smile

In May we finished up school and had our ending program. I was very glad when that was over!! The week after school was out Jen helped me repaint my classroom. It was nice to get that out of the way. Now I just need to paint the door when I get back and my room will be all spiffed up. Winking smile

Colorado 193

After. They aren’t of the same angle, but I think you get the idea.

I flew from Colorado to Illinois where my cousin Connie teaches. I was there for her ending picnic and then spent several days and Illinois before driving home to Virginia with Connie. A highlight of our time there was going up to Springfield and meeting our cousin Benj for lunch one day.

June was a full month. I taught K-1 at Bethesda bible school. I think it was the most challenging kindergarten class I have ever had and although I was happy to do it, I did breathe a sigh of relief when it was over. For three weeks I kept 3 of Mark and Sharon Horst’s children while she was in Pennsylvania for counseling. I kept the oldest girl Alta, age 9, and the youngest, twins Winston and Wesley, 22 mo. The last few days I also had their 3-yr-old sister Jennifer. (There are 2 brothers between Alta and Jennifer.) I really enjoyed having them here and was glad to help Mark’s out. It was a good experience for me to be “mom” for awhile. I have greater respect than ever for moms, especially moms with preschoolers. Smile  Here are some pictures of the children.

The end of June we had youth conference. Mother watched the children for me for most of the weekend, so I was free to be a youth with my friends. Smile My friend Andrea Skrivseth from SC came up. It was wonderful having her here! There were quite a few MBS people around also. All in all it was a very fun weekend!

I am currently teaching Bible school at Bethany church. I have 2nd grade and have had an average of 14 students. It was good for me to get out of my comfort zone a bit and go to a different Bible school where they do things differently than my church. Winking smile Wednesday we will have a program and picnic and then that will be done.

This past Thursday I went out for lunch with  Janine, Sarah, and Miriam. It was wonderful to catch up with them again! It seems I just don’t have enough time in my summer to catch up with everyone like I would like to.

I guess I will call it quits for now. No promises on how soon another post will be coming. My summer isn’t slowing down any….But any interest in comments or likes does help inspire me to post. Winking smile
