Creative Writing

So, it has been way too long since I have done some creative writing! I have had some thoughts rolling around in my head and decided to give it a go and try. This is what I came up with. It feels like it is lacking…maybe I will polish it later. But there was so much in my heart that just cannot be put into words… but maybe you will be able to see a glimpse into the heart of a teacher.

Letter to a Student,

Three years ago I didn’t know you; now, whether you want it or not, you have a piece of my heart. Although some days you tried my patience, other days you made me laugh. I could never stay upset with you. You always could make me smile, even when I tried my hardest not to. Though many times you teased and made fun of me, you still stood up for me when I needed it. Although I made mistakes, you forgave me. I have loved watching you grow and am proud of you. I love how you look out for the needs of others, even though sometimes you try to cover it up. I am blessed to be your teacher and friend. You have no idea how much you have influenced my life just by being yourself—strong, funny, charming, caring, teasing. You are the reason I have kept teaching. There is so much I could say, but I will just sum it up by saying I care about you more than you will ever know.

Love always,                                                                                                           Your Teacher

I know I may be posting at a crazy hour, but just isn’t that what writers do? We have to write when the inspiration comes. I have been thinking about it for awhile and, as I was lying in bed, I decided to just do it now because when else will I find time to do it.  Just tonight I was given an idea for a very interesting project. Maybe I have found a summer project…since I really lack for things to do. LOL. 😉

Stop Being Rude to Single People

I am sharing this because I found it humorous, not because I feel people are rude to me. 😉 It is written in satire, just a warning if you read it. 😉 I am blessed with many friends in all walks of life and an amazing church family!

Shasta's Fog

So it’s like this. Living as a single person in a tightly-knit religious community is a total suck-fest. Our loving, supportive, tightly-knit Mennonite communities are beneficial only if you (1) have close family in the area, or (2) are married. If you lack either of these qualifications, or worse, lack BOTH, watch out for rude, thoughtless comments. My single friends and I frequently lament these comments, and I’m tired of my friends suffering in silence, so I give you this post: “CHURCH! Stop being rude to single people!” If you know a family-less, single person in your community, please read on so that you can learn how to stop being rude to single people!

1. You are rude when you don’t invite us over.
Thursday I ask you, married person, to hang out and you can’t because you have plans. Friday I see pictures all over Instagram of you and…

April 2015

Well, it has been quite awhile since I have posted! The month of April was fairly busy.

Easter weekend I went to Nevada to visit Kendra and her family. It was great seeing everyone there again!

Believe it or not I hardly took any pictures while I was there. So here a a couple from the ones I have.

Part of Ruby Canyon (from the Train).

A pic of Kenj at an old mine we four-wheeled to.

The next weekend we 4 youth girls from Sunnyview went to Westcliffe to visit Vernon Yoders. We visited the Royal Gorge on Saturday and then did some thrift store shopping in Cañon City. I thought the zip line across the Gorge looked like a lot of fun, but as no one else in my group was going to do it, I decided not to spend money on it. (So, if you are ever going and plan to do the zip line, let me know so I can come join you. Winking smile )

We rode the Gondolas over the Gorge and then walked back to the visitors center over the Bridge. Being there and seeing all the damage that was done by the fire really makes me wish I would have been there before the fire in 2012. But it is still a gorgeous place to visit. I’m glad I was able to go.

On the 21st of April we had our second school field trip for the year. First we went to a Trampoline Park and were there an hour. Then we ate lunch at a park. In the afternoon we had the skating rink for an hour. All in all it was a very fun field trip! The kids loved it and and so did the teachers. Smile

And sorry, but I don’t have any pictures of skating. Every time I get so busy skating I don’t take any pictures. Sad smile
